Seil and the island
Things to do
In the cottage there is a library full of ideas for things to do and places
to visit in the area. In the meantime we've listed a few of the most popular day
trips and visits below to whet your appetite.
Seil
Walking/Wildlife - There are numerous walks on the
island. Glencoe and Fort William are an easy day trip and there are plenty
of beautiful Glens to explore in the surrounding area. There is an
extensive collection of books and maps in the cottage library of favourite
walks and good places to eat.
Golf - Balvicar on the island of Seil boasts a unusual
nine hole course.
Eating out locally - The Oyster Brewery in Ellenabeich and The Tigh an Truish at the bridge over
the Atlantic both serve a varied menu of evening meals.
Surrounding Islands
Easdale - Take the
passenger ferry to Easdale and walk round the island. Have lunch in the Puffer
Bar or visit the museum.
Luing - is a
larger island, with a car ferry - but the best way to explore it is by bike.
Bring your own or hire.
Mull -
Just 1hour 15 minutes on the Ferry from Oban . Perfect for a day out
spotting wildlife, cycling or walking.
Take a wildlife watching boat trip:
SeaFari offer
fast RIB rides from Ellenabeich. You can even go through the famous Corryvreckan
whirlpool.
Sea Life
Adventures offer more conventional boat trips where the
scenery and wildlife can be taken in at a slower pace.
